The Ohio University Health Collaborative: Putting community needs at the center.

Our University focus isn’t simply on delivering degrees but on improving health in communities across our region and our state. We do that by working together across disciplines and departments and partnering with hundreds of agencies, non-profits and government entities to understand and solve big, complex challenges that impact health in the communities we serve. We organize this work through the Ohio University Health Collaborative.

VR Research for Health Professionals

Researchers from Ohio University’s Game Research and Immersive Design (GRID) Lab and the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine have collaborated with OhioHealth to offer front-line health care workers in COVID-19 treatment units tranquil virtual reality simulations aimed at reducing stress.

A study about their results, published in PLOS ONE Journal, describes how creating a tranquil virtual reality (VR) experience set in nature can reduce the stress of health care workers.
